I wanted to rant about western heights who approved a boy to wrestle with visible ring worms we then had to wrestle him in sulphur (they were still visible on his back) the next weekend and we now have them...the dad had a note approving him our doctor told us as long as their visible their contagious and would not write us a note to wrestle this weekend...so thanks

dg, I did a bunch of searches today. We have the data in files so it's just a case of making search engines to get the data. We can go back and list all the entries for a tournament several years ago if we need. We can get how many times they placed but the ONE thing is "IF" the tournament that posted results, did not pay attention to clicking the six man box on a weight, we have to go back to the turned in brackets, BUT, we can tell every time a kid is entered in a tournament in Oklahoma. We can tell how many times he placed. That narrows it down to exactly which tournament brackets need to be pulled for what Region rather than just blindly searching. It's getting there, just takes time.

Jerry, Thanks! I have all the 2011-2012 data. A couple people I have spoken with have called me petty. I just want the novice bracket to reflect an equal playing field. I appriciate your help and time. This site is great. It is much easier to navigate than Texas' site. Thanks again!

@dgober, If I was you I'd worry about getting my kid better and worry less about getting kids kicked out of Novice State. My kid might not place this weekend, but we are prepared to wrestle any kid and aint scared of no one OPEN or NOVICE.

RE: Union, your kid might be novice compared to others on your team (and still be pretty good) and I understand but the one I was looking up yesterday was pushing the definition last year for Novice and this year (in my mind) was past the line. He is cheating others who do need some success and that is why I think THERE HAS TO BE PEOPLE CHECKING. I understand your comment and yes, everyone needs to ALWAYS be trying to better themselves, as good as the level is, IT STILL CAN BE IMPROVED with every wrestler in the state.
The ONLY way we can CURB (not eliminate) breaking the rules is to have a 100 parents all watching for this.

@chixwrestling; I have been seeing some cases of ringworm breaking out over the last week. My son had it and doctor allowed participation as long as the lesions are covered. I know it's hind-sight but if you do see a kid with this at a tournament and they are not covered, I'd recommend making sure they cover with tape or band-aid or not wrestle the kid.

@ union. I understand your point. Our team has focused on making our kids better, I feel they have done a good job. My son could reach the requirments ( he places in 32 kids brackets all the time) and when he does, under the current rules, we will jump at the chance to compete at the open level. That being said, my son has had a great first year and the current rule states the requirements for novice standing.
@ jerry. Thanks for the help and feedback.

@Jerry, I think my son is a great lil wrestler compared to anyone, anywhere, Novice or Open. The tournaments are NOVICE or OPEN, but not my wrestlers. I vote to change the rules to eliminate DIV 1 from Novice. Let all DIV 1 be OPEN next year!

@ union1995---So union , my son placed 3rd at CK kickoff, 2nd at USJOC, and 1st at the Open Tulsa Nationals and is ranked # 1 in the country, he still qualifies for novice because he's div. 1. Are you saying it's ok for me to stick him in novice state? Come on now the rules have to be followed and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't appreciate my son being put in a novice bracket(or ur sons bracket if he's novice) and taking a true novice kids medal away he's worked so hard for. I could do it but I'm not chasing medals and they need to be earned not taken.

When talking about eliminating div. 1 from novice there are a lot of other things to keep in mind. I have two sons wrestling, 1 div. 1 & 1 div. 2. This is each of their second years & their both at the top of their div, so if there was not a novice div.1 we could not have watched both wrestle at the same tourn. last year without making our 8 year old wrestle open his first year. That would not have helped him to work on what he needed to if he was always wrestling 3rd & 4rth year kids. We have split this year about half & half for both of them having competed in 8 open tourn. & 5 novice thus far. It has been good for both of them,

The Boy wood like to come rasle Okies. The Texicans don't not treat him rite. He don't not get any resepct in Tejas. He don't not have any tattoos or gap teeth. Becaws the Boy is a part-time grinder operator, in addition to being more than fair at video games, he don't not have the thyme to spend rasling, so he is still a novice under Okie rules. If the Boy paid his $7, can the Boy come up and rasle in the Okie state tourney in teh spirit of doing a gud turn for the chitren? It's all about the chitren, ain't it? Also, while I have ur attention, the stadium implosion at TCU is going ahead full steam! And we need extra operators for the Zoloft 2000 Grindering Machine. We can't not pay but we will provide all the free coffee you can drink! Just be careful of Chester, our new mutt. He don't not bark but he DO bite hardt at times. You have been warned.

@dgober; You don't have to reach any requirements for your son to wrestle open. You could stick him in open anytime you want.

@coachdad - I understand that, I was arguing the inverse (poorly arguing). ;-)
@spalmer - your son 'could' wrestle in the tourney I would have no problem since he hasn't exceeded the current rules. It's the ones that are not by rule 'novice" that I have issue. I respect your decision to keep him working in the open as he has done well there this year.
@union - Div 1 is, for me, the most important div to have novice, if you want to grow the sport. It allows for young wrestlers to gain experience in the sport.

coachdad, yes, the Junior High All State entry's are by division, 6-7 is one division and 7,8,9 is the other division. Of course, they are by weights within the division but that part is not showing and frankly, what's on the web site is not totally in agreement with the FINAL entry's. Jason put's those changes/additions/deletions in his final file that is input into the program that runs the tournament. My job and the web site was just getting the entry's input on line which took about 90% of the work out for THAT part anyway.

In my opinion it is great to have a line drawn in the sand in terms of open & novice wrestlers. However, the rules need to be simplified so it can be tracked easier. How a bout this one...a wrestlers 1st & 2nd year is novice. Anything after that you are open.....that would be so much easier.

I think just the opposite of a previous post. D1 is the LEAST important age to have novice. They're all new and novice then. The older a kid is the more important novice can be, eg. Starting wrestling in D4 or D5. Looking back, I wish we would have started our 5-year old in open. He took a few more lumps when he came to open in my opinion

What do any of you recommend to treat the ringworm? We've always gotten script from doctor. Usually it's a pill but once got an ointment.

Something to take into consideration with Div. 4-5 kids..... DONT WRESTLE THEM ON FRIDAYS... (like Regionals) they miss school for weigh ins for JOC, then that friday. They miss again for Jr. High allstate...... AND again for kids regionals, Then again for State..... NOT TO MENTION THE CK TOURNAMENTS!! Not sure how the rest of the school districts are, but we dont get activity absences or excused absence for these 4 days... AND we are only allowed 5 absences per 9 weeks. Not leaving any open room incase they get sick. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!..... Not to fire back about! I know alot of you are thinking, then dont wrestle in these tournaments...... Would that be an option for your kid, if these were his/her circumstances??

RING WORM...... You dont have to cover it, you can get something like "newskin" that will seal it and keep it from spreading on the mat and to your opponent. Then after they wrestle wash it, and medicate it, i have heard tea tree oil works really good, and even heard of people putting bleach or nail polish on them.... Have not tried that myself though! Good luck!
